Teacher Industry Externships

TIE DUE:  April 12, 2013

Teacher Industry Externships offered by Alaskan industries provide valuable learning opportunities for Alaska’s teachers and, in turn, their students.

TIE improves educators’ understanding of Alaska’s industries by giving teachers a chance to work alongside industry employees.
In the classroom, educators share their experiences with Alaskan youth; Teachers are better able to convey the career opportunities that are available to students and the education and training required for those careers.
Tens of thousands of middle and high school students attend class every day in Alaska.  Externships provide teachers with experiences needed to link their curriculum to real world applications and in-state career opportunities for Alaska’s youth.
